New Instructional Designer Joins Georgia Southern to Elevate Online Learning

For Nihan Agacli Dogan, Ph.D., education has always been about empowerment. As the newest instructional designer in 糖心Vlog鈥檚 Office of Adult and Online Learning (AOL), she is committed to creating meaningful, engaging, and accessible learning experiences for students and faculty alike.

Dogan, who earned her Ph.D. in Educational Technology from the University of Florida, brings a decade of experience in teaching, research, and instructional design. She鈥檚 no stranger to Georgia Southern, having spent the past five years as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development.

鈥淚鈥檝e had the privilege of teaching Georgia Southern students, and I鈥檝e seen firsthand the dedication and passion this community has for learning,鈥 Dogan said. 鈥淚鈥檓 excited to take on this new role and contribute to expanding high-quality online and hybrid education opportunities.鈥

From Research to Real-World Impact

Dogan鈥檚 academic and professional journey has always been guided by a focus on how technology can enhance education. Her research explores the integration of technology in learning environments, instructional design strategies, and innovative teaching methodologies.

鈥淢y goal has always been to bridge the gap between theory and practice,鈥 Dogan said. 鈥淲hether it鈥檚 designing a course or implementing new technologies, I aim to create solutions that are both effective and student-centered.鈥

Her experience spans K-12, higher education, and adult learning environments, giving her a versatile perspective on instructional design.

Empowering Faculty and Supporting Students

In her role at AOL, Dogan collaborates closely with faculty to design and adapt courses for online and hybrid formats. She emphasizes creating engaging and accessible experiences that meet the needs of diverse learners.

One of her key projects includes supporting the development of the online Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) program in Special Education. 鈥淭hese programs prepare future educators to make a difference in their communities, and I鈥檓 honored to play a part in their success,鈥 she said.

Dogan also provides training and resources for faculty, helping them navigate the complexities of online course design. From selecting the right tools to ensuring accessibility compliance, she鈥檚 a trusted partner in the process.

鈥淥nline learning is a collaborative effort,鈥 Dogan said. 鈥淏y working together, we can create courses that not only meet academic standards but also foster connection and engagement.鈥

Looking Ahead

As Georgia Southern continues to expand its online and hybrid offerings, Dogan is eager to help shape the future of education at the university.

鈥淥nline learning is more than just a way to deliver content鈥攊t鈥檚 an opportunity to reimagine how we teach and learn,鈥 she said. 鈥淚鈥檓 thrilled to be part of a team that鈥檚 driving innovation and making education accessible to more students.鈥

With her expertise and passion, Dogan is poised to make a significant impact on Georgia Southern鈥檚 mission to provide transformative learning experiences for all.
